  • Date: Ayudha Pooja 2025 will be celebrated on October 2nd, 2025 (Thursday), which falls on the ninth day of Navaratri.
  • Auspicious Time: The Pooja is ideally performed in the morning or during Pradosh Kaal (evening hours).

Significance of Ayudha Pooja

  • It is believed that Goddess Durga defeated Mahishasura on this day, making it a powerful time for invoking divine energy in one’s work and tools.
  • The festival acknowledges that all tools, weapons, and instruments have divine energy and should be respected.
  • In ancient times, warriors and kings worshiped their weapons, while today, professionals, business owners, artisans, and mechanics worship their tools and machinery for success.

Rituals of Ayudha Pooja

  1. Cleaning and Decoration of Tools & Vehicles

    • All tools, machinery, vehicles, books, and household items are cleaned, polished, and decorated with turmeric (Manjal), sandalwood paste (Santhanam), and kumkum (vermilion).
    • Flowers and mango leaves are used to decorate workspaces, offices, and vehicles.
  2. Ganapathi and Lakshmi Pooja

    • The pooja begins with an invocation to Lord Ganesha for removing obstacles, followed by prayers to Goddess Lakshmi for prosperity and Goddess Saraswati for wisdom.
    • The Navagraha (nine planets) are also worshiped to bring good fortune and protection.
  3. Offering of Prasadam

    • Special prasad (offering) like Aval Pori (puffed rice) and Vellam (jaggery) is prepared and offered to the deities.
    • Fruits, sweets, and coconut are also offered as naivedyam (sacred food).
  4. Chanting of Mantras and Shlokas

    • Vedic hymns and shlokas dedicated to Goddess Durga, Lakshmi, and Saraswati are recited.
    • Many people also recite the Saraswati Vandana and Durga Stotra for wisdom and protection.
  5. Worship of Vehicles

    • Vehicles (cars, bikes, trucks, etc.) are cleaned and decorated with lemons, flowers, and vermillion.
    • A small arti (light offering) is performed, and a coconut is broken near the vehicle as a sign of divine protection.
