Tarpana / Hiranya ShradhaTarpana / Hiranya Shradha
Tarpanam or Hiranya Shradham is a sacred Vedic ritual performed to honor and offer prayers to one’s ancestors (Pitrus). This ceremony involves offering Til (black sesame seeds) mixed with water along with Swayampaka Danam, which includes raw food items like rice, dal, raw banana, and vegetables, given to Brahmins. The ritual ensures that the departed souls attain peace and bestows blessings on the family performing it.

Significance of Tarpanam / Hiranya Shradham
- Pleasing the Ancestors: It is believed that performing Tarpanam or Shradh rituals ensures the Pitrus (ancestors) are satisfied and bless their descendants with good health, prosperity, and success.
- Liberation of Souls: Offering Tarpanam helps the souls of ancestors achieve moksha (liberation) and relieves any suffering they may have.
- Fulfilling Family Duties: According to Hindu scriptures, it is the duty of the descendants to honor their forefathers, and Tarpanam is one of the most effective ways to do so.
- Removes Pitru Dosha: If someone in the family faces obstacles in life due to Pitru Dosha (ancestral imbalances in astrology), this ritual helps in reducing negative karmic effects.

-
Prayers and Mantras
